Forgiveness - Matthew 18:21-35

October 16, 2022 Speaker: Brian LoPiccolo Series: The Doctrines of Peace

Passage: Matthew 18:21–35

A forgiving God requires us to forgive one another. This may be our greatest witness to the unbelieving world: Christians who practice forgiveness. Like Jesus’ parable of the unforgiving servant, our debts to God are an impossible burden to ever pay back. But God was merciful to forgive us completely, forever, by erasing our debt when Jesus died on the cross. This gives us the perspective, freedom, and power to nurture hearts that forgive. It’s not easy. It’s a process, a lifestyle. Denying forgiveness is denying the Gospel: that Christ’s sacrifice covered not only our sins, but sins committed against us.
