Passage: 1 Peter 3:13–17
The word "evangelism" is pregnant with negative connotations these days, but it has always been an essential part of the Christian worldview.
But how should Christians speak about their faith in a post-Christian context? Some of us are too self-confident or zealous in our witness; others among us are too fearful or timid; perhaps some are just aloof. Peter however urged Christians—in the midst of their troubles—to always be ready. Readiness, however, is not a license for arrogance or foolishness. We must clothe our readiness-to-witness with gentleness and respect, so that are consciences are clean no matter what peoples’ reactions. Basically, we should act like Jesus when we talk about Jesus.
