Last Will & Testament Part 3: Take Heart - John 16:1-33
May 1, 2022 Speaker: Brian LoPiccolo Series: Gospel of John
Passage: John 16:1–33
Christians have great reason to be comforted and courageous in this world, though the surrounding threats are not always overt persecution, imprisonment, or death. Christian faith still faces opposition in the marketplace of ideas, in the media’s and Hollywood’s caricatures of us (in some instancs well-deserved), and in the growing irrelevance of traditional Christianity to contemporary society. Loving Jesus and obeying him will provoke the intimidating norms of both organized religion and chaotic secularism. Christ-followers are opposed in both arenas of this world! But Jesus reminds us to “take heart”, to be courageous! He said this just before his own death, for in his death he has “overcome the world.”
