Hard Sayings, True Food - John 6:41-71

Passage: John 6:41–71
Being a Christian means hungering for what God alone offers you. God has given “the bread of life”, his Son, to all who are willing, beyond their initial offenses, to receive it. Jesus preached hard sayings that aroused confusion and offense in many who followed him. A few however, though they didn't fully understand him, persevered through their doubts, recognizing that he alone “has the words of eternal life." As the world around us, and our sinful “flesh” within us, may desire a sustenance that Jesus does not offer, true believers must follow him nonetheless—asking God for the gracious gift of perseverance: being preserved by him through this difficult age, until the end.
